January 18: SPLA, backed by UPDF forces, recaptures Bor. Rebels claim that they have withdrawn tactically.
January 20: Battle for Malakal rages. Rebels continue to control Koch, Panyijar, Leer, and Mayendit Counties in Unity State and Fangak, Waat, and Akobo in Jonglei.
